Sue McCoy

Artist Statement:

My new oil and acrylic paintings are a translation of real life imagery or experiences that implies a controlled abstraction in which the light, color, texture, or shape of a place is lifted out of context, so that its qualities are felt even while its identity is deliberately obscured.  My painting inspiration is a recombination of everyday images that feature my Virginia farm landscapes in contrast with urban architectural scenes. Years as an interior designer has influenced my painting, and my interior and exterior environment mirrors the artist that I am.
